Introduction of oncology diagnostics in Somaliland – Completion of training of local staff and activation of the Telepathology node

Goals: 

• Improvement of the training of local healthcare personnel on the preparation of diagnostic material and the execution of special ancillary methods
• Installation of a Telepathology station at the HGH Laboratory
• Training of technical staff on slide digitization and web sending procedures

What we have done

---

• Over 10 training missions of local technical staff have been completed to review and update routine technical procedures: sampling, fixation, processing, embedding, microtome cutting and staining of histological slides
• The installation of Digital Pathology and the WaidX platform for remote diagnostics was successfully completed
