What we have done
The healthcare staff of the CHU-MEL Hospital in Cotonou was trained through an internship in Italy
• A gynecological clinic and a laboratory equipped for cytological diagnoses have been set up
• A training course was organized which involved 42 local professionals including Doctors, Midwives, Nurses and Technicians
• An awareness campaign was carried out among the local female population on the spread of HPV and on strategies to combat it
• A population screening for cervical cancers was started and direct treatments were carried out for cancers diagnosed at an early stage
