Introduction of cytological diagnosis in case of mammary lesions that present suspicious during
clinical examination and/or mammography and/or ultrasound.

What we have done

---

We organised a theoretical and practical cytology training course for 4 staff members of the Herat Breast Cancer Centre. The 3 months training took place in the Pathology department of the Santa Maria della Misericordia Hospital in Perugia (Italy). 
We have established a telepathology system directly connected with Italy. The aim is to provide quality monitoring and real time consultation for the most complicated cases. 
Thanks to this project, the president of APOF, Dr Paolo Giovenali, has received the Fondazione Veronesi Award in November 2018. This recognition comes for profuse commitment in exporting oncological diagnostics in favour of female health in developing countries.
