We are pleased to invite you to attend the play “Return to the Castle” on Friday the 31st of May at 9pm. The event is organised by the Association “Artinmovimento” at the Sala Raffaello in Rome.
The Association “Arteinmovimento” has dedicated a play to APOF for the third year in a row. This year the theme is fairy tales: The traditional tales are disappearing and soon nobody will remember Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Red Riding Hood. It’s time to summon the world’s most famous fairy tale characters!
But what will happen when the Queen once again looks in the mirror? Does Snow White remember being enchanted by an apple? And what about the Seven Dwarves?
We left them all living “happily ever after”, but how did things really turn out in the end?
Let’s return to the castle and discover what’s really going on!

“PATHOLOGY IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES: FROM REAL-LIFE EXPERIENCES TO EXPECTATIONS FOR A BETTER FUTURE”
The Working Group (WG) of the European Society of Pathology (ESP) "Pathology in Favour of Developing Countries", together with the African Organization for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC) and the Italian NGO "Associazione Patologi Oltre Frontiera” (APOF, "Pathologist Beyond Borders Association") are proud to announce a call for the symposium of the WG which will be held during the upcoming 31th European Congress of Pathology (ECP) in Nice, France, from 7th to 11th of September 2019.

The symposium is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 8th, from 17.15 to 19.15
Aim of this symposium is to offer a space for pathologists coming from underserved countries to present their everyday working experience with the public of the ECP 2019; we consider this initiative a good opportunity to open a window to show how our profession can be managed and developed also in low-resource settings, and also to foster collaborations between Institutions through this moment of sharing of experiences.
Similarly, the call is also destined to pathologists coming from high-resource settings but with professional experiences in underserved countries
For this purpose, through this call we intend to select seven speakers to cover the available slots of the symposium; to each speaker will be assigned 10 minutes for the presentation followed by 5 minutes for the questions from the public; the last 15 minutes of the symposium will be reserved for a general discussion with the public. The chairmen of the symposium will be Dr. Paolo Giovenali, the President of APOF NGO and Prof. Adesina Adekunle, the Pathology lead/chair of AORTIC.
People who intend to offer their contribution may send an abstract with a summary of the speech to

The deadline for the presentation of cases is scheduled for Wednesday, April 10th, 2019.
The authors of accepted abstracts shall be contacted and provided with further information
ESP and AORTIC have kindly agreed to offer some support to allow participation:
✓ ESP is glad to offer registration fee waiver for the selected speakers from underserved countries,
provided they be 40 years of age or older.

​✓ AORTIC will sponsor two selected presenters with a bursary of $500 each, provided they be members
of AORTIC and have not already benefited from ESP bursary. The sponsorship will be assigned to the
two best presentations and will be communicated during the final debate with the public.

]]><![CDATA[APOF at Italian NGO/CSO fair Pavia]]>Thu, 18 Oct 2018 22:00:00 GMThttps://www.apof.eu/en-news/apof-at-italian-ngocso-fair-paviaThe first year of the NGOs and CSOs fair took place on Friday 29th September from 9am to 6.30pm at the University of Pavia. 
Glodep is a Master Program instituted by three syndicated Universities: Palacky University (Olomouc, Czech Republic), Universite Clermonte Auvergne (Clermont-Ferrand, France), and the University of Pavia (Pavia, Italy). The Masters Program is divided into two structured years. During the first three semesters students attend their studies in one of three Universities. The last semester is dedicated to either research or a stage alongside writing a master dissertation. Glodep’s aim is to train professionals specialised in developmental policy and practice.
It’s in this context that “NGO’s Action! Italian Development Cooperation in a few shots” Programme was created with the aim of promoting Italian NGOs and their work. The project is promoted by the Department of Economy and business sciences of the University of Pavia, in collaboration with Consorzio Glodep and the Natural Resources, Agricultural Development and Food Security International Research Network (NAF).
The Project aims to create a collection of videos to promote italian NGOs , in order to provide students with an insight into the work of development cooperation through a stimulating and easy-to-access digital platform. We have participated with 50 other ONGs (including Emergency, InterSOS, AISPO, etc.) that operate in different fields, from migrants and refugees to building wells in developing countries.
This demonstration has created dialogue and direct contact among the different ONGs and the students who participated, providing a deeper understanding of the intervention in the developing countries.
Students from a variety of countries approached our desk, not only for info about what we do but also to ask how they can contribute to our future projects. Unfortunately there weren’t any doctors at the event, but still plenty of students from humanistic studies and social sciences. 
This event fostered a dialogue between APOF and other NGOs in a positive climate which gives confidence for future developments and projects. Furthermore our projects of distance learning and telepathology have raised interest and it has opened up the possibility to enrich our initiative with wider contents (other than medical ones) for example engineering projects for the implementation of hospitals.
